Comparison of Babies: Part Two

Yep. Same outfit. Almost a year apart. Josh continues to be at the very, very top of his age's growth chart. And we love him for it.

"Tangled" No More

We had our very own Rapunzel in our family. Anna had only gotten one partial haircut in her whole 4 1/2 years, and it was high time to chop her golden locks. She loved her long hair, but the maintenance was too much. We took "before" and "after" shots so you could get the full effect.

She got about seven inches cut off! We're so excited for her shorter hair for the hot, Texas summer. Isn't she gorgeous (and looking all "grown up")?

Houston, we have a crawler!

It's official. Josh is crawling! It's still a slow, wobbly little crawl, but it's so much fun to watch him act so determined and patient when he's trying to get somewhere.

Now we just have to remember how to baby-proof a house. . .

Flight of the Bumblebee

First movement: Adagio (Early afternoon, after first being noticed)

All I have to say is, WHAT THE HECK?! I first noticed them around 11:30 a.m., but it was insane by the time Larkin got home from work. I know bees are good for the environment, pollenation, blah blah blah, but they are NOT good for my family in that quantity! We tried calling pest control to get someone else to take care of it, but no one returned our calls until local offices were closed for the evening. Yes, we could have left them alone.

However.

When they swarmed and stung our neighbor two doors down from us and there were that many of them, I could not sleep at night knowing they were just still multiplying.

I never really cared one way or the other about bees, but after yesterday, it is official. Bees creep me out.

After a lot of discussion and thinking over the possibilites, Larkin and I think we found what attracted the bees in the first place.

Being Taught by the "Missionaries"

Most days I wonder if I'm doing what I should as a mother. Then I have days like today.

And then I got a lesson.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: We have the BEST children in the world. They came to us like this; our job is to continue to teach them and be willing to be taught by them. Days like today let me know that we must be doing something right.

Just Having Fun

We've been trying to have fun this spring before it gets too hot outside. We are EAGERLY anticipating summer vacation when we get to spend more time with Daddy. (However, Larkin will be teaching some classes at a local college for 8- to 14-year-olds this summer. He'll only be teaching in the mornings, so we'll still get afternoons, evenings, Fridays, and weekends with him. Not too bad, we say.)

We've been playing with Josh,

watching Josh learn to crawl, (He hasn't mastered it yet, but he's SOOOOO close!)

making fun food ("watermelon pancakes"),

learning about cool things in preschool (e.g., space unit with astronaut ice cream)

and going on field trips.

We also spent some time entertaining guests

and visiting San Antonio (more pictures of Andrea and Zach's trip are up on Le Sueur Street).

All in all, we're having a fun spring. Here's to a great summer!

Easter

We had a wonderful Easter, despite having some stuffy noses. It started a week early, with someone ringing our doorbell. We opened the door to find this sign:

We had been "egged" - someone hid 24 Easter eggs in our front yard! The twins had a blast finding them all.


We colored Easter eggs with Uncle Zach and Aunt Andrea while they visited us last week.



Since the kids had already gone on an egg hunt this year, the Easter bunny left them a note saying that instead of hiding eggs for them to find on Easter morning, he hid their Easter baskets! The hunt that ensued was pretty entertaining to watch.
